Bob, a SeanHakes.com reader was the first to point out that on Webmail 2.0 there was no “attachment” button. This comment unleashed more and more problems leading to the ever popular, and growing concerns with 1&1 Webmail, 2.0… Here are a few responses to the “no attachment” problem; the fix will be mentioned below.

I have the same problem as Bob – no “Attachment” column like in the tutorial pictures. I’ve dug around for hours and can’t figure out any way to send email attachments with Webmail 2.0. Anyone else have this problem, or a solution?

And finally, thanks and kudo’s to Regis for the following Webmail 2.0 “No Attachment Bug.”

Comment from Regis [ ANSWER & FIX ]

“I Found a fix regarding the “Attachment” section of email composer not showing up. I hope this helps all the guys who experienced the same problem, and I hope 1&1 picks this up and includes it in their FAQ, since i spent some time on resolving this!!

I use Internet Explorer 8, and I think the problem is related to this version of IE, although I cannot confirm.

Anyway, in this version, you have a Compatibility View option icon (green, looks like a torn page), located top right of the browser window (next to the refresh button in a normal window, or next to the padlock icon in a “New Email” 1&1 window).

When you hover on this icon, a notification shows: “Compatibility View: websites designed for older browsers will often look better, and problems such as out-of-place menus, images or text will be corrected”.

Click on this, and voila, the attachment options will show (at least this worked for me!!).

I hope this helps, let me know if it worked for you guys…”

There you have it, feel free to post your comments here. We welcome both praise and complaints to 1&1. Many of their senior managers hang out on the blog and I am sure they would like to get your feedback.

Cheerio!

1&1 Internet has been rightfully criticized for its many Major 1&1 Telecom outages as well as shifty hosting services that seems to be down more than up has announced it now offers unlimited traffic to it’s web hosting customers. This could be a desperate attempt to salvage customers who are turned off by its poor service and unethical billing tactics by the non U.S based host and domain registration provider.

1and1 News Release:

At 1&1, we make every effort to offer our customers the most advanced technology and services available in the industry. For this reason, we have decided to include unlimited traffic with all of our web hosting packages and online shops.

Now, you don’t have to worry if you exceed the monthly transfer volume limits in your package!

Unlimited traffic will allow you to offer downloads to your visitors, add flash animation or other types of high resolution graphics to your site.

In the past if you had more traffic than your package included, you had to pay an additional $0.49/GB. Unlimited traffic means you can rest easy, instead of paying additional fees for a successful website.

Your advantages:

More visitors to your site will not mean more money out of your pocket.

Transfer large files via FTP and don’t worry about added fees.

Offer file downloads without concern for a huge bill at the end of the month.

For more information about 1&1 I caution you not to visit them and check out one of these other fine domain name registration and web hosting providers instead.
