I have been using SpyFu off and on for the past few years and have found several of the services for a few years now and have had some fun playing with their tools. In many cases it takes the leg work out of researching targeted keywords.
SpyFu sells you on the fact that you can use your competitors hard-work and research to your advantage. What if your competitors screwed up? What happens when you copy an entirely faulty SEM Campaign and have to start from scratch? Sounds like a great sabotage technique if you have money to blow – in reality, SpuFu is a very helpful tool.

Spy Fu is cool, i am using it along with iSpionage keyword tool which i prefer for grouping the keywords and avoid the work with spreadsheets.
Hi, Sean
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on SpyFu. You make a good observation about potentially copying a faulty SEM campaign. However, *knowing* when a campaign or even a keyword was weak is a valuable resource. There is much to be learned from wrong turns.
At SpyFu, we point out inconsistent ad copy (to show where they attempted improvements), dumped keywords, and even a history of ad positions so you can know for certain when an advertiser hit a speed bump. You might have discovered this in our Ad History feature.
There’s much to be said for using their poor outcome in your favor so you know exactly what to do better and what to avoid.
Also for interested i can advise semrush – i think it is really worth a try.
