Is Yodle a Scam?

First let’s define what a scam is…

–noun

  1. a confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, esp. for making a quick profit; swindle.

–verb (used with object)

  1. to cheat or defraud with a scam.

So let’s get to business - Is Yodle a Scam?

First what Yodle is not: Yodle is not a confidance game or a fraudulent scheme and they most defiantly do not try to cheat or defraud small businesses with a scam. – there you go, this automatically disqualifies them as a scam.

What Yodle is: Yodle is a Internet Advertising Agency (a big one at that) that provides everything from Pay-Per-Click management, to web design and search engine optimization. One thing I know for sure is that Yodle’s management team cares a lot about their advertisers and drives a product that they really believe in.

So what do you do if Yodle doesn’t work for you?

Try something new. Too many businesses blab about things they really know little to nothing about. Part of small business ownership is finding out what works best for you. If Yodle doesn’t work for your company (and we know it doesn’t work for every business), try something new. Don’t get your shorts in a knot and make yourself sound uneducated by ranting. I have NEVER affiliated nor wanted to affiliate myself with other businesses who rant.

There you have it. Yodle is not a scam and its not for everyone – but it works.

    Thanks for the review. I’ll be the first one to tell you that not every campaign is successful and I’d be wary of any company who says any different. There are lots of variables to a successful campaign and not all of them are controlled by the vendor. Of course you need a great website, adcopy, distribution, etc., but you also need a business owner who answers the calls, responds to emails, prices their services right and finally, had the ability to persuade the caller to book an appointment, consultation, etc.

    We do our very best to insure all of our clients are set up to succeed. When we have an issue, i assure you we are responsive and do whatever we can to rectify the situation. My only advice to a business owner is to definitely air your concerns to your provider but also be patient. I realize its emotional when you are investing your hard earned dollars into a marketing campaign and not seeing the return right away but if your with the right vendor, the account is set up properly and you are holding up your end of the bargain, the results will come and the dollars will come with it.

    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for stopping in. I was browsing the web when I came across a few new post about Yodle being a scam so I thought I would throw my two sense in.

    Your right – Yodle isn’t for everyone but it. It chaps my backside to see people rant about something just because it didn’t make sense or work for them.

    I noticed a post where someone said they see a ton of complaint on you guys. When reality sets in the complaints that are online really are no bad – especially when you consider how many small businesses you work with. I guess you can’t please everyone, but you can sure try to educate them.

    Personally, seeing businesses rant like that is a turn off for me. The world is a small place and you can guarantee I won’t be hiring people like that who try to make a public embarrassment out of something they know little about.

    sean, good point. i have had great success with my yodle campaign.

    business that pout on the web and trash talk like i’ve seen is a direct reflection of un-professionalism.

    I’m glad to see many sites, posts, and content talking about dissatisfaction with Yodle or ReachLocal. Apparently, a good many folks do not get the results the expect for the prices they’re charged.

    There’s nothing “unprofessional” about complaining. At least, not any more than bootlicking.

    Is this Web site setup to promote Yodle? You have many posts about both Yodle and ReachLocal. Mostly, you spend all your time trying to defend them. Some posts make sense, other posts look like astroturf. Are you a reseller or what’s the story? Clearly, there must be *some* relationship you’re not disclosing.

    I was contacted by yodle and they told me that if I was using other lead generation companies that theirs would be even more successfull. So I bit down on their hard sales tactics and was impressed with their software. $5000 later I have received 4 quality leads and a thank you for spending your money. Yodle did not deliver for me and as far as rants go, I dont think you should pay that kinda money for anything and receive close to no results. I would of been happy with break even or even close. Thats not a rant thats a problem. They are selling direct customer advertising and it doesnt work? This isnt a billboard with a million people driving by this is a direct keyword advertising. End of story! To much for to little!

    I find it interesting how the admin responds “It chaps my backside to see people rant about something just because it didn’t make sense or work for them.” Are you kidding me!? As a business, it is your purpose to execute the PURPOSE service. Get good results. When someone pays you money, they expect good results. it’s that simple.

    Does Yodle advertise saying, “we’re not sure what your results will be. So, just us the money and let’s gamble.” NO! They give you every indication that they have the tools, know-how, and experience to get you good results. And furthermore,the worse possible outcome is to visit a complaint thread and follow up with a offer of solutions. I have seen Yodle and ReachLocal do this on many complaint blogs.

    Why wait or allow the problem to escalate to a complaint blog before you really make a concerned effort to make things right? I’ll tell you why, because the truth hurts! If your service sucks, people have a right to complain. Playing the whole “unfair rant card” is the equivalent of calling someone a fanboy because they enjoy well made products. Believe it or not customers can see through the bullcrap, but sadly when it’s too late in some cases.
